I'm no foodie and I have a tight wallet. But this restaurant sure is one of the better ones while being gentle on the finances.
My mom and I decided to head out for dinner tonight, I wanted to try this new restaurant I found on Google. We staying not too far, decided to take a bus down and walk into the restaurant. The place was about 10minutes walk from the bus stop, for those without cars, this ain't too far at all, especially if ur finding good cheap gourmet food.
I was surprised when I found the place, it was a little smaller than I thought, but the staff in the restaurant immediately made me feel at home, with all of the staff being fully committed to the progress of the restaurant while engaging us in casual conversation.
We ordered the garlic rice, assorted sashimi, assorted tempura and soft shell crab maki. All these dishes were good, but special mention to the assorted sashimi. A typical price of sashimi (3 kinds) is about 30 dollars, but this restaurant priced it at just under 20 SGD. I know some of you may be saying, "what? Why so cheap? Must be low quality!" But it was quite the opposite, the fish was fresh, well cut and very tasty. My mom even compared it to the sashimi she had in Japan. This is definitely top grade. I would also like to add that this freshness was also found in the prawn tempura and the soft shell crab meat. Definitely a place that doesn't skim on quality.
We finished off the meal with green tea with red bean ice cream and a black sesame ice cream. While lacking variation in desserts, the ice cream was definitely delicious and well made. Tho I would caution for those without a sweet tooth, best to order the green tea ice cream without red bean.
As I paid the bill and left, the 3 things that stuck to me were, price, quality and good friendly service. For those with a pinch on the wallet, what else could we ask for?
Tenryu restaurant, thanks for a good meal. :)
Just came back from an extremely good meal at Tenryu with my family. We found it on google because it had the highest rating in the vicinity (Bukit Panjang/Choa Chu Kang area) for good reason! My dad is usually a picky eater, but even he had nothing but compliments. It's a humble restaurant set within a residential area that's super chill and quaint. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly, and even went out of the way to help my brother (who arrived later) find his way in. My only issue is that the place was difficult to find at first. But I had a very pleasant experience and will definitely return! Highly recommend! :)
Heard of good food in Tenryu. Today crazy enough to travel from East all the way to Dairy Farm Estate to try. Food is good. Service is good too. Only regret is the air-con place is a bit small. Definitely worth my time and effort for it. Highly recommended if you want a quiet place to enjoy reasonable good food and services. Will come back again to try other dishes.
